Founder Project - Global Fund

Tahir foundation is a health-focused charity founded by Dr Tahir, founder of the Mayapada Group. This institution aims to improve the quality of public health care in Indonesia. Tahir Foundation is the first institution in Indonesia to donate funds to the Global Fund and so far Tahir Foundation has donated US$ 65 million. Therefore, Indonesia is entitled to receive health funds from the Global Fund amounting to USD 130 million for the prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS, Malaria, and TB.

While the Global Fund is an international organization that started operations in 2002, it is one of the first private foundations among many bilateral donors to provide health funds that focus on AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis. The Global Fund focuses on these three diseases because HIV/AIDS, TB, and Malaria are considered the deadliest diseases in the world. The purpose of this organization is to collect and channel additional sources of funds for the prevention and treatment of these three diseases. The Global Fund has a matching fund policy, which means, for every US$ 1 donated to the Global Fund, the Global Fund provides a multiplier donation to the contributing country.
